and taken down from the Cross
O my Mother, Most Sorrowful Mother, your ordeal is not over with the death of your Son. He is dead, why mistreat Him even more and inflict this torment on you? You noticed a soldier brandishing a spear which he plunged into Jesus’ side. From the wound flowed blood mixed with water. It was Jesus who was speared, but it was you who felt the pain.
You used to have your Son with whom to share your suffering, but no longer. Jesus was taken down from the Cross, the Son that you gave to the world with so much love, is now returned to you disfigured.
What did Jesus do to deserve such treatment? Do not torment yourself any longer, tender Mother, and let us do what you ask of us: with repentance in our soul, let us return to the Heart of Jesus, and He will once again welcome us.
O Mary, Mother of Love obtain for me the grace to love my God.
